After living in the Netherlands for the past 3 years, I do find myself reminiscing about my live in the UAE. I lived in the UAE for 15 years and I consider it home. The lifestyle there is characterized by a blend of modernity, tradition, and diversity. 1. Diversity
As you may know, The UAE is very diverse. Its population comprises people from over 200 nationalities. This rich culture creates an environment where individuals from different backgrounds coexist harmoniously. The expats constitute approximately 88.52% of the population. Since the majority are expats living away from home, you integrate quickly. Everyone is home sick but somehow you share those feelings with several people and manage to bond.
2. Safety and Security
Safety and security are paramount in the UAE. The strict rules contribute to one of the lowest crime rates globally. UAE crime rate & statistics for 2021 was 0.47, a 32.88% decline from 2020. There are cameras, security guards and police officers everywhere. Whether walking the streets at night or leaving belongings unattended, residents can enjoy a sense of security and peace of mind.

The weather in UAE is characterized by its arid desert climate, with hot summers and mild winters. The climate is influenced by its location in the Arabian Peninsula. In summer, the temperatures can reach +50°C degrees and be humid. The combination of high temperatures and humidity can make outdoor activities challenging. Many residents and tourists prefer to stay indoors. You might think that it is hard to do daily life chords. However, there are air-conditions everywhere, even in the bus stops.
Winter is the most comfortable and pleasant season in the country. During winter, the daytime temperatures and cooler nights. Daytime temperatures typically range from 20°C to 25°C . Although, temperature in the desert areas and mountainous region can be lower. Winter skies are usually clear and sunny. This period is perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, picnics, and sightseeing.
4. Tax-Free Income
One of the most enticing aspects of living in the UAE is the absence of personal income tax. This means that you can enjoy your salary fully. This would enhance your overall quality of life. However, you won’t be eligible for mandatory pension contributions. You may have to arrange that yourself back home. Salaries are assumed and expected to be high but a lot of foreigners. As a recommendation, if you are planning to move there aim for min 15,000 Aed a month or higher, excluding benefits. The benefits are typically a sponsorship visa, health insurance, a housing allowance, a ticket to fly home once a year, etc….
5. Second hand goods
Goods like cars, electronics, clothes, etc… depreciate quickly everywhere. Once an item is used, its resale value typically decreases. This will force second-hand sellers to offer lower prices to attract buyers. This might not be good news if you are selling something, but fantastic news if you are buying. The country is known for its affinity for new and cutting-edge products. This will lead to a constant influx of newer models and versions of various items. As newer models are introduced, the value of older models depreciates, resulting in lower prices for second-hand goods. The best example of this would be the prices of cars.
6. High Quality of Life
The locals and residents of the UAE enjoy a high standard of living. It is characterized by access to premium amenities and facilities. From governmental services to luxurious shopping malls, this country has a lot to offer. Expats have lots of chances to enjoy fancy meals or relax at nice resorts, making great memories along the way.
7. Natural Beauty and Outdoor Recreation
Beyond its modern developments, the UAE has diverse natural beauty. The beauty ranges from vast deserts to pristine beaches and rugged mountains. You can enjoy fun adventures such as desert safaris, dune bashing or water sports. Whether seeking tranquility in the desert or a hick in the mountains, you can always reconnect with nature. Do not forget that those activities are preferably experienced in winter.
8. Architecture and Events
The UAE is home to a wealth of cultural landmarks, museums, galleries, and heritage sites. From the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to Burj Khalifa, residents can explore architectural wonders. Additionally, the country hosts many events, festivals, and exhibitions throughout the year. Those events celebrate art, music, literature, and cuisine from around the world.
9. Family-Friendly Environment
In the UAE, families with children have plenty of options for fun and support. There are great schools and big parks to explore. Plus, there are lots of other families from different countries living here. They all help each other out and make friends, which is really nice for families to do to

The UAE is situated at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa. The UAE occupies a strategic geographic position that facilitates travel, trade, and investment. With world-class airports, seaports, and logistics infrastructure, the country is important to the global marketplace.
