1- DigiD

This is the most important app in the Netherlands. DigiD is an application used for identification purposes when accessing secured governmental websites. It allows you to use the services risk free. Therefore, the app a very important to access everything related to official and governmental use. It is connected to your BSN number and ID.

2- Berichtenbox

Berichtenbox (The Message Box ) is your sort of email inbox. This app allows you to access and receive letters from the Dutch government online. I find this very helpful, and lucky it is on a separate app. I surely cannot imagine receiving this sort of email on my Gmail or Outlook account. You would still receive the actual physical mail in your mailbox.

3- 9292

This app is defiantly very helpful if you are relying on public transportation. 9292 provides you with all the necessary information you need to know in order for you to travel. All you have to do is to point out from and to where you want to travel, and that’s it. The app shows you the best possible connections, fair price and timings. The best part about this is, it will notify you if there are any strikes or road closures in advance. I recommend checking the app sometime before you leave to make sure that everything is okay.

4- Vinted

Vinted is an online clothing marketplace. Here, you can buy, sell and exchange new and or second hand clothes and accessories. Using this app I have managed to grab good deals, both new and used, in very good conditions. The app is extremely safe and secure. To me, this is the most useful app so far, where I managed to buy and sell several items. Besides making deals, you are actually helping the environment. Rather than throwing away those clothes, we are actually using them.

5- Too good to go

Too good to go app is a very great concept that I wish more countries can adapt to. This app allows you to buy unsold food items from restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. The items are being sold for cheap as it is a way to save food and not to throw it away. Are you looking for a nice cheap meal at the end of the day? Make sure you check this app based on your location and go collect it. The trick is that usually the expiry date are very soon, so you may have to consume it asap. More reasons to eat cake, am I right? In addition, you are not only having a very nice deal, but you are also saving the planet. The best sustainable app in the Netherlands?

6- Snappcar

Snappcar is a carsharing platform where you can rent a car or lend your own in exchange for money. This is a very useful application where you can rent cars for the whole day as cheap as 17 Є per day, excluding gas. There are different types of cars on the app: classic, sport cars, trucks, special vehicles and vans. This is a legit app in case you are planning on renting one or lending on to make some extra cash. The cars have insurance and are road worthy. Please make sure you read the terms and conditions beforehand.

7- Parkmobile

Park mobile is a great application if you own a car in the Netherlands. The app advises you if the location you are at currently is free parking or not. If you are not in a free parking zone, the app will show you the nearest cheapest parking location. You can also pay for your parking hustle free with the app itself. You can end your parking session the same way you started it.

8- Marktplaats

Marktplaats is the most famous marketplace app in the country. You can find anything you need in one place, from clothes, furniture,. TVs to dishwashers, cars and trucks etc…. The best part is, you can place a bid on most things available for sale. You can also get rid of your unwanted items there. If you do not have a marketpaats account, do you even live in the Netherlands? This is by far my favorite app in the Netherlands, because of the bidding options and the negotiations.

9- Flitsmeister

Flitsmeister is a great app to use while driving in the Netherlands. In brief, this app notifies you of road related news. The notifications are lane closures, car accidents, traffic queues and speed cameras. All you have to do is open the app and that’s it, you can leave it in the background and it will notify you once there’s something. I have to ask you to follow and adhere to the road speed limits and do not use this app to overspeed and avoid speed traps.

10- Buienradar-weer

This is a great application that gives you information about the weather forecast. The weather can be a bit unpredictable in the Netherlands. The best way to plan your day, especially if you are planning an outdoor activity, is by checking this app. It shares with you information about rain, storms, and any weather warnings.
